Come with me I’ll take you to the land Where proudness fills the eye of every man Come with me to the mountains To the dreaded Cactus Mountains Sacrifice a life that’s filled with greed Seek the deeds that fill the evening breeze Come with me to the rivers Where the leaves of beauty shivers Where there’s no tomorrow And not a hint of sorrow
2.
I had it comin’ It’s been trouble all along Should’ve started running But I swore to sing this song I’ve overcome some business Misplaced a thing or two I’ve seen fortunes flying with the wind Have you seen it too? And I’ve got problems Got some demons in my room And I’ve got curse That will end this pretty soon But I know I’m lucky Cause I can read between the lines I knew I had it comin’ I should’ve seen it in their eyes
3.
Under the spell of a silent sky, she pointed at me Her eyes were fixed on the heavens that shone with beauty As we listened to the beat of the sounding sea I told her softly that this could last eternally Your love for money Gold, cash or money We lay down on the broken shore under a waning moon Me and her on the verge of love, we sank into We lay in lust on the shore by the sounding sea We knew that these were not moments of reality Your love for money Gold, cash or money
4.
Obscene, pulsing the sessions of this dream Tensed, trouble triggering and tossing our thoughts Caution, behold the stuff that turns our nights to magic Receiving the wealth of a dying health Imagine, expressions run our trip machine Sustained, pained, involved auditions from the rain Delay, picking fading elements our silent way Touch and kiss the blade of numbness … (Dedicated to Espen “Beng” Nyland)
5.
El Dorado 02:09
Over the mountains of the moon Into the valleys of glittering gloom Ride bravely ride With a shotgun on your side If you seek the roads that lead to El Dorado Over the fields of strangest mist Below the earth where no God exists Ride bravely ride With Paradise on your mind If you seek the dreams that leads to El Dorado Ride bravely ride With a passionate good ol’ mind If you know you’ll one day find the El Dorado (Based on the thrill-seeking adventures of Jakob “Actionkiller” Låte)
6.
Springtime reminds me of younger years When a fair maiden strayed away with her peers She sank into my sorrow like a stone I’d sell my fortune for Thee … My sweet Marie In the eye of shining stars I see my Marie They are gently singing a melody for me She sank into my sorrow like a stone I gave my soul to Thee … My sweet Marie She sang for me Marie, a little melody She’s all the world to me, but a memory
7.
Swift the hammer goes Bang into your bleeding nose You seek to meet a big defeat My blade through your skin with ease Kneel, make a final wish A perfect wish is to end this fucking shit Your face is marked from my golden ring That’s the ring of a renegade king That’s the tale of a renegade king That marked a face with a blooded ring He fell to earth and lost his soul To the beauty of a woman and rock’n’roll
8.
You, demented and blue That’s true, you dance your life through But then your soul lies cold When you’re demented and old You, cannot please your dreams To reach a way to be released And then your soul lies cold You crave to face yourself You see your soul lies cold You’ve been bought and sold You see your soul lies cold Before you even got old
9.
Mine is Time 02:58
Mine is time, no God I need No time for the devil’s or Jesus’ greed Why should I kneel down in the dust? To bless some fellow I cannot trust I say a prayer in my mind I’ll drink the poison, not the wine You’ll go to heaven in the blue I’ll stay down here and wait for you Don’t need miracle release Keep a clear nose in the breeze I say a prayer in my mind I’ll sip the poison, skip the wine
10.
Hang on to your asteroid, Wolfgang’s coming Ride in the unknown voids, centre of wonder When we get there you’ve got to wake me, wake me from this slumber Never again will I curse the rolling thunder Life will no longer be Easy to live for me Deep in my slumber Host of the universe Please forgive me Jesus I’ve broken your rules Is that the reason why you’ve put me on this ship of fools? This is the crusade of the broken and paranoid Trust me little Jesus, grab your asteroid Messiah let’s ride Ride to the other side So Messiah boy Hang on to your asteroid
11.
Wickedness lies in your moisten lips Your body moves just like a sack of shit You ramble in the woods when people sleep Could it be it is Satan that you seek? When I was young I slumbered round in sin Your wickedness has taught me discipline You and I must be a hellish sight As the crow flies on, we steal into the night This must be the vengeance of your loss Onto your burden a heavy rock I toss In me, my love, sorrow no longer lives Safe outside the radius of your thrills Wicked woman, you giggle as you roll I let lose the search hounds of my soul Your belly is full, you’re weeping ocean blue Now I see the hole where your tail came through

about

Wolfnaut's first album was originally recorded and released on CD in 1998. The album and the band's explosive live shows caused a small sensation in their hometown in Norway, and even landed the band a very decent review in the mighty Kerrang! After a few tumultuous years, the first incarnation of the band imploded before finishing a second album.

"Welcome to the Cactus Mountains" was remastered by Johan Forsman Löwenström and rereleased on vinyl and streaming in 2013. This remaster is the one you can enjoy on Bandcamp. Three previously unreleased tracks (Mine is Time, Hang on to Yer Asteroid and As the Crow Flies/Weeping Moon), recorded for a planned second album in 1998, were added to the remaster.

about

Wolfnaut Norway

Forged in the sounds of early hard rock and metal, and the desert rock scene that exploded in the mid-1990s, WOLFNAUT (formerly known as Wolfgang) has made it a quest to investigate the musical landscapes between hooky twin-guitar based songs, and sludgy and doomy stoner rock. Hailing from the deep forests of Elverum, Norway, Wolfnaut has played to headbanging audiences from Trondheim to Duisburg. ... more
